Reverie

Reverie  -  Pan Thistle, 2017

All the lilac clouds wait on the sundown
and you sign your name in rings of smoke
you stop the clock
In a wispy dream, right before the credits scene
you take the palette of the autumn dawn
and paint the day
in the key of May

Reverie
iris open and you're here with me
they tell me all your secrets
a wall of fantasy
Reverie
watching tango dancers in a scarlet sea
of wild pride
passion drowns sanity

I know there have been times
we would meet in nightmares
the crash, the earthquake
sirens wailing in the night
then we would sail
far beyond the sunset
to a place where
wounded angels go to mend in
light and sound

Reverie
dark, hazel eyes never lie to me
your cosmic grace
vagrant galaxy

The way she held my hand, walking down the aisle
fire in her eyes, war inside her head
Gold-plated kiss, puzzled smile
November of the Pig
drag me down again
Reverie

Now the lights are out, the circus left town
the show is over
and that fair quest was never meant to be
my four-leaf clover
Funny how things change
we go our separate ways
funny how she said
we're not the same!

Reverie
while leaves are dying, falling off the tree
the birds just sing away adversity and grief
Reverie
in bad times and trouble, always there
you take me on a flight, a plane of mystery

Calling my friend
Reverie
I'm calling my friend
Reverie
