A few days ago, the US vice-president made a speech at the Munich Security Conference.
The US vice-president... "JP, right? JD Mandel?" No, that was his name until recently when they changed it and now they call him JD Vance. Anyway, this guy from America, who apparently doesn't have a clue what the word "demos" means, decided to give a lecture based on some twisted ideas about defending the freedom of populist propaganda by extremist groups. At first, it all sounded like some inept joke coming from a "Trump University" graduate but then the clown removed his makeup and joined the leader of the German far-right AfD party for a private talk. It seems that after "Optimusk Inutilis" recent interference in Germany's federal election we also have this Peter Thiel puppet trying to upset the balance of power in european politics. At one point, the Thiel minion said: "If you’re running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you, nor, for that matter, is there anything that you can do for the American people who elected me and elected President Trump."
In the backdrop of Trump's crazy trade wars and his shady deals with Putin and Netanyahu, among others, it should be clear that this is a critical juncture where Europe must come together and be united and prepared to counter any side effects. It is unfortunate that the majority of people in the USA have bought into the idea that asserting your role as a leading world power can be achieved by a bunch of offensive, business minded oligarchs. But it is not surprising as Noam Chomsky said, "the US is basically a one-party State, the business party that has two factions called Democrats and Republicans". At the same time, it is interesting, and rather amusing, that they have chosen Trump, a failed businessman with a record of six bankruptcies, to be the leader. Do they seriously believe that renaming the Gulf of Mexico will "Make America Great Again"? This is a classic example of historical denialism and an insult to the Maya civilization, but I digress.
In Europe, things are done differently for many reasons, most notably because Europe has a long history! For most people around the world, North America is a political and cultural extension of Europe, right? Just think about it. This USA today would not be there without Europe!
Of course, we all look after our interests however negotiating the accession of a country to the EU is quite different from threatening the annexation of Canada, for example. The latter is clearly an expansionist policy by Trump and together with his isolationism, in terms of strategic alliances, human rights and environmental issues, they are set to undermine US' global influence.
At the time of writing, most international media organizations have already debunked the vice-president's lies and false claims about a "freedom of speech decline in Europe". Nevertheless, the fact that he actually made them speaks volumes about the current US government's tactics. In addition, the vice-president made it clear that Europe cannot count on american support under Donald Trump’s leadership.
Well, I guess we will have to wait and see. Maybe they will come up with another one of their fruity proposals like renaming the Mediterranean Sea to "Red White and Bluesea"? 😂
